This is a place for real businesses to be found by real customers. Almost everything follows from that. These guidelines form part of the Terms of Service.
1 The short version
Please do
- · Represent yourself and your business honestly
- · Describe what you actually sell, at the price you actually charge
- · Publish your own work, or work you have the right to publish
- · Answer your customers
- · Report things that break these rules
Please do not
- · Pretend to be someone else
- · Sell what you cannot legally sell
- · Mislead people about what they are buying
- · Abuse, threaten or harass anyone
- · Game the platform to get seen
2 Content that is not allowed
Illegal content
Anything unlawful where you are or where we operate, and anything that promotes or facilitates a crime.
Child sexual abuse material
Zero tolerance. Accounts are removed immediately and permanently, and reported to the authorities.
Terrorist and violent extremist content
Including material that glorifies, promotes or recruits for it.
Threats and incitement to violence
Against anyone, including yourself.
Hate speech
Attacks on people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
Harassment and bullying
Sustained targeting, pile-ons, sexual harassment, and dredging up someone's past to humiliate them.
Sexually explicit content
Pornographic material is not permitted anywhere on the platform. Adult products may be listed where legal, but the listing itself must not be explicit.
Self-harm content
Anything encouraging or instructing self-harm, suicide or eating disorders.
Fraud and scams
Fake listings, advance-fee schemes, phishing, counterfeit goods and anything designed to take money for something that does not exist.
Misleading commercial claims
Prices you will not honour, "cures" that cure nothing, invented certifications, fabricated reviews.
Infringing content
Images, text, music, video, logos or trademarks that are not yours to publish.
Impersonation
Presenting yourself as a person or business you are not. Parody and commentary are fine when they are obvious.
Other people's private information
Home addresses, phone numbers, identity documents, financial details - published without their consent.
Malware and malicious links
Including links to phishing pages and drive-by downloads.
Spam
Repetitive posting, irrelevant tags, mass unsolicited messages, engagement bait.
3 Behaviour that is not allowed
- · Scraping or bulk-collecting data from the platform without our written permission
- · Creating fake accounts, or accounts to evade a restriction on another one
- · Attacking our systems, probing for vulnerabilities, or exploiting one instead of reporting it
- · Trying to access an account, order, message or dashboard that is not yours
- · Manipulating search results, recommendations or trending content
- · Buying, selling or faking followers, reactions, comments or reviews
- · Automated use of the platform beyond what a person could reasonably do by hand
- · Uploading files intended to overload, break or compromise the service
If you find a security vulnerability, please report it to us privately at legal@boothpost.com. We will not pursue anyone who reports one in good faith and gives us a chance to fix it.
4 Prohibited goods and services
Regardless of local law, these may not be listed here:
- · Weapons, ammunition and explosives
- · Illegal drugs, and substances marketed as a legal substitute for them
- · Prescription medicines and medical devices requiring a prescription
- · Human remains, organs and bodily fluids
- · Live animals
- · Stolen goods and counterfeits
- · Government documents, identity documents and licences
- · Personal data, account credentials and mailing lists
- · Sexual services
- · Gambling, lotteries and betting services
- · Financial instruments, cryptocurrency offerings and investment schemes
Regulated goods that are legal to sell - alcohol, tobacco, supplements, cosmetics - may be listed only if you hold whatever licence your country requires, and you are responsible for holding it.
5 What happens when the rules are broken
What we do depends on how serious it was, whether it looks deliberate, and whether it has happened before.
Some things skip straight to termination: child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence, terrorist content, and serious fraud.
6 Reporting something
Every post, profile, listing, review and comment has a report option. Tell us what is wrong with it and we will look.
Reports are confidential. The person you report is never told who reported them.
We tell you the outcome of anything you report.
Filing reports in bad faith - to harass someone or to bury a competitor - is itself a breach of these guidelines.
Copyright complaints have their own process, described in the Content & Copyright Policy.
7 If we act against you
We will tell you what we did, what rule it was about, and why. You will find it under Settings → Moderation.
You can appeal once, from that same screen. A person reviews it - not the same automated check that flagged it - and if we got it wrong, the decision is reversed and anything hidden goes back up.
