Accessibility Statement

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

We are partially conformant: most of the platform meets that standard, and the exceptions are listed below rather than left for you to discover.

• The whole interface can be operated by keyboard alone
• Visible focus outlines on every interactive element
• Semantic headings and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate by structure
• Text alternatives on meaningful images, and icons marked decorative where they are
• Text and background colours that meet the AA contrast ratio
• A light theme as well as a dark one, chosen from any page
• Layouts that reflow to 320px and survive 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling
• Form fields with real labels, and errors described in text rather than by colour alone
• Dialogs that trap focus while open and return it where it came from
• No content that flashes or auto-plays with sound

Being specific about this is more useful than claiming full conformance.

• Images uploaded by other users often have no alternative text, because we do not yet require one. We intend to prompt for it.
• Some analytics charts convey information by colour and shape without an equivalent text summary.
• A few animations do not yet respect the "reduce motion" setting.
• Long feeds do not announce newly loaded content to screen readers.
• The rich text editor used for articles is difficult to operate with a screen reader.

Tell us. Say what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse - that is usually enough for us to reproduce it.

We reply within five working days. If a fix will take longer than that, we will tell you how we can help you get the thing done in the meantime.

This statement is based on our own review of the platform, using keyboard-only navigation, screen readers and automated checks. It has not been independently audited.

We review it whenever we make a significant change to the interface.
